Our client, a major global chemical company located in the greater Houston area, has an immediate opening for a Safety & Auditing Specialist. This position will report to the Manager of Safety, Health & Auditing in the Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) organization. This position is bonus-eligible and an excellent relocation plan is available. The responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Providing occupational safety-related expertise and regulatory interpretation to Company-owned facilities and the Headquarters office
- Planning and performing safety audits as part of the overall EHS audit process at Company-owned facilities
- Maintaining, analyzing, trending and reporting company incident data
- Developing and/or updating company safety and health programs, procedures, and best practices
- Facilitating and/or participating in incident investigations, as requested
Requirements
- a Bachelors in Safety Engineering; Industrial Health; Safety & Fire Protection; or a closely related field
- a minimum of 7 years of occupational safety experience, preferably in the petrochemical industry
- strong leadership skills and be proficient at solving complex problems and analyzing unique issues
- a high level of motivation, and be a self-starter able to handle multiple tasks concurrently as well as work with little or no supervision
- Superior communication skills, both oral and written, as well as strong interpersonal skills required
- Ability to listen well is also essential
- a passion to excel, be customer focused and results driven, and have the ability to effectively collaborate and work with personnel at various levels throughout the company
- the ability to travel overnight 30 - 40% of the time and be proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office computer applications
- certification as either a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) (strongly preferred) and/or Certified Professional Auditor (CPEA) (preferred)
